Namad Carpet

Altai

They have been produced for millennia by Pashtun tribes in Afghanistan and have been an integral part of their lives in the mountains at very high altitudes and in harsh conditions. They were used in various ways inside and outside the tents, were extremely useful in the freezing winters, and very easy to transport during nomadic migrations: felt is still considered the best insulating material ever made.

The essential nature of the design and the primitiveness of the techniques highlight their archaic origins.
