In 1959, Pierre Chapo designed a bed as a commissioned work for the writer Samuel Beckett. He wittily named it “Godot,” in reference to the play Waiting for Godot. L 01 became its name in the Chapo nomenclature and can be regarded as the starting point for the first Chapo collection, which was officially presented in early 1963.
